Purgatory is a Catholic Man-made Lie The doctrine of Purgatory is that souls that are not fit "for hell nor for heaven" will go to Purgatory for a time of cleansing from sin where other Christians can pray for them to help them pay for their sins and make it to heaven. The Catholic church itself has stated that there is no Biblical Basis for Purgatory! Even Catholic Catechism teaches that, "There is not much in Scripture on Purgatory...But our belief in Purgatory rests on the tradition and definitions of the Church, at the Councils of Lyons II, Florence, and Trent."1 We are told a contrary message about death and the afterlife from Scripture. Jesus said, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: Also we are warned not to be taken captive by empty and deceptive traditions and philosophies of men that depend on human principles rather than on Christ.3 The Scriptures teach a message that is contrary to the Catholic teaching. As it is written, "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."4 Jesus, in whom dwelt the Godhead bodily, taught more about Hell than any one else in the Scriptures. He was with God in the beginning and all things were made through him. He came from heaven and testified to the things he saw and heard from the Father. Jesus said we must deal with purification for sin in THIS life. For Christ was crucified for sin once for all, the righteous for the wicked to bring us to God. We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you."5 Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.6 Christ came to destroy sin in the flesh by the offering of himself. Accept the atoning sacrifice of the real Jesus Christ. Acknowledge and confess your sins that you might be cleansed from all your unrighteousness and dead works to live in newness of life today and for eternity.
