We hope you find these verses useful in your search for
God.
In order to please God, we
need to know what He likes and dislikes. And this begins with an
understanding of who God is and who we are. Below are some subjects that
the Bible emphasizes as being important and that we should find important if we
desire to please our Creator.
SIN
The
reason for many of the problems that exist in societies, nations and in individuals of all
racial backgrounds is due to ignorance or willful rejection of Gods truth. Even people who claim to follow God fight and
are at war with each other because they pray and ask God for selfish requests so
they may use what they get on their own evil lusts. Sin is disobeying Gods law and leads to
consequences
the wages of sin lead to death (that is eternal death).
God provides a cure for sin, once for all through Jesus Christ.
FREEDOM
FROM SIN
So God has made a way for us to be free from
sin. He has given us the Son whom He loves to be the sacrifice and
atonement for all sin.
"6You see, at just the right
time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very
rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might
possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."--(Romans 5:6-8)
Many believe today that a person can never be
free from sin, that he will always continue to be sinner. This is human,
carnal, reasoning that is not in line with the teachings of Jesus or of the
Bible. This belief is not based on true hope and is the sign of a person
who is helpless, powerless and enslaved to the bondage of sin. The Bible
clearly teaches that the person who has truly come to know Christ will be free
from sin, he will be holy, in thought, in word and in deed.
"24He
himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and
live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."--(1 Peter 2:24)
"22But
now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the
benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23For
the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord."--(Romans 6:22-23)
"20 I
am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in
me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."--(Galatians 2:20)
"4Everyone who sins breaks the
law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5But you know that he appeared so
that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6No one who
lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him
or known him."--(1 John 3:4-6)
FAITH
To those who repent of their sins (that is to
forsake and turn away from) and who turn to God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
there is forgiveness, cleansing and salvation. This is the victory that
has overcome the world, even our faith. And
without faith it impossible to please God. For
everyone who comes to Him must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of those who
diligently seek Him.--(Hebrews 11:6)

striving for as Christians holding fast to the Word of God, the Bible...
HOPE
There is very little hope in this world.
Terrorism, wars, death and torture of many innocent women and children,
homosexuality and all forms of evil are running quite rampant today.
Children killing each other, parents neglecting and polluting their children.
Hardness of heart, cruelty, abuse, violence, hatred, murder, deceit, sexual
perversion and corruption can be seen on a daily basis. Cultures and religions
are killing one another daily in the name of God yet not loving or obeying the
God they claim to serve.
Yet, I tell you friend, by the grace and mercy
of God almighty and the resurrection of Jesus Christ--the risen savior--there is
hope in this world for all who will choose to follow the will of God. We
have this promise, that God will be our God and we will be His people if...yes,
there is a condition....
"14Do not be yoked together with
unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what
fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there
between Christ and Belial [wicked/worthless one - Satan]? What does a
believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there
between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As
God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their
God, and they will be my people."
17"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."
18"I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."--(2
Corinthians 6:14-18)
And God wants us to have peace...first to the
Jews and then to the rest of the world. God chose the Jewish race because
of the faith of Abraham and God's desire to make a name for Himself in the
earth.
"2Grace and peace be multiplied
to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3as His divine
power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the
knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4by which have
been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you
may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in
the world through lust."--(2 Peter 1:2-4)
And our hope and faith will purify us...
Everyone who has this hope
(that Jesus will return in righteousness and holiness), purifies himself just as He is pure.--(1 John 3:2-3)
LOVE
Love is not a feeling. Love is not simply an emotion. Love is not
accurately defined in the light of sexual attraction. True love is
an unwavering commitment, displayed by the demonstration (or fruit) of one's
life that springs from heartfelt gratitude.
God is love. The one who lives in God lives in love.--(1 John
4:6)
“And this is love for God, to obey
His commands”--(1 John 5:3)
"We love, because He first loved us."--(1
John 4:19)
GRACE
The grace of God is not just "unmerited favor".
That may be more accurate to refer to as God's mercy.
God's grace has to do with the power and anointing that
He gives to us in order to make us strong and equipped to stand firm in what
things He prepares in advance for us to do (Eph 2:10)
For the grace of God
which brings salvation has appeared to all men; teaching us to deny ungodliness and
worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age;
while we wait for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior
Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for
himself his own peculiar people, zealous to do what is good.--(Titus 2:11-14)
THE BIBLE
The Bible is at least 2000 years old, yet it
continues to uphold the same truths throughout the centuries. It has been
fought against by many foes yet continues to endure. It contains amazing
descriptions of science; history; faith; theology; analysis of the heart, mind
and conscience and godly living that continues to prove itself in our rapidly
advancing information age. Many people read the Bible looking for flaws,
excuses or contradictions. They do what many have done over the years,
"twist the Scriptures to their own destruction". It is foolish to try and
twist God's word for your own advantage. Some read the Bible trying to
justify sin in their life. Others read the bible and try to condone sodomy
or any other wicked thing. God never changes, Jesus doesn't change either
(He remains our High priest forever to mediate for us at the right hand of God
Almighty). In fact "the Word of the Lord will endure
forever". "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any
two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is
there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do [give an account]. Seeing then that we have a
great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast
our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of
our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace
to help in time of need."--(Hebrews 4:12-16 KJV)
May you fall on the firmly grounded rock of Jesus who is
the Christ/Messiah and humble yourself before the only true Almighty God who
sent His son to be the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the
best master, the closest friend, our redeemer, our teacher and our guide.
